MTU introduction

MTU, short for Maximum Transmission Unit, denotes the largest data packet size transmissible within a network. Ethernet networks typically adhere to an MTU of 1500 bytes, enabling the transmission of data packets up to this size. Should the data packet surpass this MTU, division into smaller units becomes necessary for transmission, potentially leading to increased network latency and strain.

Within computer networks, the MTU is primarily determined by network devices (e.g., routers, switches) and the operating system. Varying MTU sizes may be supported across different network devices and operating systems. In cases where jumbo frames are integrated into the network, the MTU size can be further expanded.

MTU holds significance in network troubleshooting as well. Insufficient MTU size within a network device can lead to the fragmentation of data packets into smaller segments for transmission, consequently impacting overall network performance. In such instances, adjustment of the MTU size can offer a resolution to the concern.
MTU configuration
- When the camera is directly connected to a computer or connected through a network switch, and a higher data capture speed is required for the camera, you can set the MTU to 9000. Also, please set the value for “jumbo frames” on the computer to 9000. (When using a switch or router, make sure that the device supports jumbo frames.)

Switch to Administrator mode.

Select the network configuration in the top right corner of the camera card:
