    2.1 2D Template Matching

Step 1: Create Template
Submit the colored image of the template to be captured to “Make Template” and, in measurement mode, frame the location of the template.

After framing is complete, save the “Template Image” at output port 2 and the “Template Mask” at output port 3.

Step 2: “Train” Template – Creating Template through Template Feature
Submit the original image of the captured template to “Template Matching.”

Configure Template Matching parameters:

  1. Template Feature Already Extracted: Uncheck (default setting)
  2. Template Feature File Path: Choose the folder path where the template feature file is saved.
  3. Template Image File Path: Choose the template image file saved at output port 2 in step 1.
  4. Template Mask File Path: Choose the template mask file saved at output port 3 in step 1.
  5. Keep the rest as default.
  6. Run the step. When template feature files are generated in the folder and the template image on the board is marked, the template is completed.


Step 3: Template Matching
Submit the image data to be matched to “Template Matching.”

Configure Template Matching parameters:

  1. Template Feature Already Extracted: Check
  2. Maximum Score Lower Threshold: Fill in based on actual needs
  3. Keep the rest as default
  4. Run continuously.



2.2 Record Reference Pose
In most projects, the position of the template in the 2D image during template acquisition is considered the baseline for the entire visual project. This can be recorded through the following method:

  1. Choose the center position of the template in the 2D image as the baseline for the visual project.

  1. Baseline creation is complete.

2.3 Image Alignment

By performing 2D matching and recording the reference pose, captured images can be transformed for various measurements and detections.

In image alignment, users can transform the target object to a fixed position for further processing using this method.
Another approach is to keep the captured image unchanged and transform the ROIs of various algorithms for processing different original images.
